Abstract

An der medialen Seite der Urnierenfalte beginnt bei Embryonen von 5 mm Länge das Cölomepithel und gleichzeitig das darunterliegende embryonale Bindegewebe zu wuchern, so daß sich eine neue Falte, die Keimdrüsenleiste (Genitalleiste, Plica genitalis) abhebt (etwa 4. Schwangerschaftswoche). Das Cölomepithel wird mehrschichtig und bildet das Keimdrüsenepithel, den Cortex. Gleichzeitig verdichtet sich das unter dem Epithel gelegene Mesenchym, hier treten die primären Keimstränge auf, die den Markanteil der Gonade darstellen. In diese Anlage wandern die bipotentiellen primitiven Keimzellen, die Gonien, die sich im Mark zu Spermatogonien, in der Rinde zu den Ovogonien entwickeln. Witschi (1957) schätzt ihre Zahl auf 2000.
