Velocity Measurements in Combustion Fields Using a Laser-2-Focus Velocimeter

  • Chapter
Laser Diagnostics and Modeling of Combustion

Abstract

To clarify the complicated phenomena in combustion fields, it is important to understand the flow field in detail. A laser velocimeter is an attractive and powerful instrument to measure velocity in a high-temperature combustion field without affecting the flame. A laser doppler velocimeter (LDV) system has been improved and applied to various flow fields, including a combustion field complicated by various difficulties. In addition to the LDV there is an alternate instrument called a laser-2-focus velocimeter (L2FV).
