Abstract
We could immediately look for equilibrium solutions of the diffusion equation by setting ∂f/∂t = 0 and solving the resulting equations with boundary conditions, but this must eventually lead to the same analytic problems described in section 5. We can gain more insight by investigating certain aspects of the time-dependent equations, although we obviously will not obtain the complete time-dependent solution in any usable form.
