Summary
This paper presents a mathematical analysis of the maximum throughput and the waiting times of slotted ALOHA communication systems. It will be shown that the maximum throughput can be significantly increased by providing m (m ≥ 2) user channels together with a queue of maximum length L (L ≥ 0) in the satellite and d (1 ≤ d ≤ m) frequencies for packet retransmissions from the satellite station to the users. The second part of the paper deals with a discussion of some modifications (non identical user models, dominating channels).
