Abstract
A common infection of all ages around the margins of the nail – the nail folds. It may form an abscess and also be spread under the nail. Redness, heat and swelling with pain along the margins of the nail are experienced. May be associated with nail-biting, manicure, hangnail or ingrown nail. Typical cases caused by Staphylococcus aureus.
