Abstract
Some important general advice regarding elbow injuries: Avoid a long duration of elbow immobilisation, a maximum of 3 weeks for adults. Children could go 5–6 weeks until restriction of range of motion persists. Avoid forceful, aggressive physiotherapeutic manipulation, especially bouncing, dynamic stretching, which may only render a worse result in regards to the range of motion (e.g. creating myositis ossificans). In elbow injuries, there is a risk of damaging the blood vessels and nerves – always perform a peripheral neurovascular examination (distal status)!
