Abstract

Development of nautical tourism on inland waterways and lakes has not been the subject of serious studies and analysis that could serve as a basis for further research or development potential of a structured and sustainable development of nautical tourism on inland waterways. The aim of this article is to identify and analyse the potential framework for sustainable development of nautical tourism on Croatian inland waterways with regard to infrastructural capacities as well as tourist offer and demand. The initial evaluation of the potential will be based on qualitative and quantitative indicators, and each of the proposed indicators will be elaborated. Authors will collect detailed information on infrastructure requirements of Croatian inland waterways with special emphasis on waterway infrastructure, access roads, accommodation and communications infrastructure, as well as support services that could contribute to the development of nautical tourism on Croatian rivers. Authors will propose a reference model for the development of nautical tourism based on existing relevant models.
