Promovieren in Deutschland – Kontext, Entwicklungen und Perspektiven

Zusammenfassung

In den letzten 20 Jahren hat das Thema „Promotion“ in Deutschland eine neue Aufmerksamkeit erfahren – aus Sicht von Promovierenden als wissenschaftliches Qualifizierungsmodell und Karrieremotor, für Institutionen als Möglichkeit zur Profilentwicklung, für das Wissenschaftssystem als wirtschaftlicher und gesellschaftlicher Wachstums- und Wettbewerbsfaktor. Durch die Plagiatsfälle der jüngeren Vergangenheit, die nicht nur das deutsche Wissenschaftssystem erschüttert haben, ist die Promotion neuerdings in Gefahr, in Misskredit zu geraten. Dennoch: Die Promotion bleibt für das Thema „Wissenschaftliche Qualifizierung“ von zentraler Bedeutung, weil sie die Schnittstelle ist zwischen Bildung und Forschung, zwischen Ausbildung und Profession.
