Lang anhaltender, ruhiger Körperkontakt ist eine entscheidende Voraussetzung für eine günstige körperliche, emotionale und kognitive Entwicklung des Säuglings. Dies gilt sowohl für früh- als auch für normalgeborene Säuglinge. Dieses Kapitel gibt eine Übersicht über Forschungsergebnisse zum Einfluss von Körperkontakt auf die Gesundheit des Babys, seine Fähigkeit zur Selbstregulation, seine geistige Entwicklung sowie auf die Eltern-Kind-Interaktion.
