Development of an Enterprise Architecture Management Capability Catalog

Abstract

Managing IT within the business context and not as a stand-alone function is becoming increasingly important for business success, the complex structures of enterprises have to be managed holistically. The integration of bordering processes, which address organizational changes, must be realized to guarantee an enterprise-wide management of the different architectures. This can be reached by implementing Enterprise Architecture Management (EAM). After introducing the challenges of EAM implementation that resulted from a number of investigations we performed, this paper introduces the state of our research proposing a general context for finding the capabilities in an enterprise - EAM capability catalog - and a preliminary draft of its structured development process, the EAM capability solution matrix, to overcome these challenges.
