Notes
- 1.
The Stokes parameters \(P_i\) \((i=1,2,3)\) are defined as in quantum electrodynamics: In the helicity representation, the photon 2 \(\times \) 2 density matrix is of the form \(\left\langle \lambda \left| \rho ^{\gamma }\right| \lambda '\right\rangle = \frac{1}{2}\left[ \delta _{\lambda , \lambda '}(1 + \lambda P_3) + (1 - \delta _{\lambda , \lambda '})(- P_1 + i \lambda P_2) \right] \), where the helicity \(\lambda = +1\) (\(\lambda = -1\)) corresponds to right (left) circularly polarized photons.
- 2.
A short notation for the decay amplitudes in analogy with (4.101) has been used.
