Abstract
Following a first proposal on this matter presented by the Commission in 2007 (hereinafter, “previous proposal of 2007”), after the entry force of the Treaty of Lisbon the Commission presented in April 2011 a Proposal for a Directive on the use of Passenger Name Record data for the prevention, detection, investigation and prosecution of terrorist offences and serious crime (hereinafter, “proposal for a EU PNR scheme”). Following the general approach agreed at the JHA Council of 26–27 April 2012, this Proposal is now awaiting its first reading at the European Parliament.
