Abstract
Police and judicial cooperation in criminal matters, including the exchange of information, are not limited to the internal borders of the EU. In order to tackle international organisations in an effective manner, and be able to anticipate their criminal activities, United States have negotiated two particular Agreements with the EU, aimed at processing Passenger Name Records data (PNR) and Swift’s financial messaging data. The judicial authorities can benefit from the results of the analysis carried out by the US competent authorities, as soon as they channelled their requests through Europol, Eurojust, or in accordance with the EU-US Agreement of mutual legal assistance.
