Abstract

Over the last decade, the advent of newer imaging technologies has meant that the vitreo-macular interface is now able to be visualized with more and more detail. Previously, fundus examination and ultrasound were the main modalities of visualization; however, optical coherence tomography and other newer imaging techniques have revolutionized the detail which can be seen and measured accurately. We explore the key imaging modalities available currently to visualize the vitreo-macular interface and speculate on future directions.
