Am Beispiel von Mikroversicherungen erörtern Marin Hintz und Daniel Dirks wie ein globales Unternehmen des Finanzsektors mittels seiner CSR Strategie innovative Wege beschreiten und damit neue Märkte erschließen kann. Sie zeigen auf welche Motivation für die Allianz dazu geführt hat und welche Veränderungen bei den Produktentwicklung, den Prozessen und der Vertriebsorganisation damit einhergehen.

Einige nationale Aufsichtsbehörden haben Mikroversicherungen bereits genauer definiert und dabei zum Teil einen produktbezogenen (z. B. Indien) oder auch einen einkommensbezogenen Ansatz gewählt (z. B. Philippinen). In jedem Fall sind diese Definitionen aufgrund ihres lokalen Kontexts nicht global anwendbar.
