System Dynamics Modeling of Diffusion of Alternative Fuel Vehicles

Abstract

With the intensification of global energy crisis and the growing importance of environmental protection, the promotion of alternative fuel vehicles becomes an inevitable trend. The promotion of alternative fuel vehicles lies in the development of alternative fuel vehicle technology. By means of patent data analysis, this paper explores the change of alternative fuel vehicle technology, studies the stage of technology life cycle which alternative fuel vehicle technology is in, and thus to predict the market holdings of alternative fuel vehicles in future. By considering the factors which affect the diffusion of alternative fuel vehicles, such as technology, government grants, construction of fuel-filling stations, this article uses system dynamics to build a causality diagram and a flow chart diagram of diffusion of alternative fuel vehicles. On this basis, the diffusion process of alternative fuel vehicles is discussed.
