Abstract

Most fractures of the thoracic and lumbar spine are found at the thoracolumbar junction. The aim of therapy is to achieve stable fixation in order to prevent secondary kyphosis as well as spinal decompression. Minimally invasive anterior procedures have been developed in the past and the discussion of whether anterior, posterior, or a combined procedure is sufficient is ongoing. With an increase in patient age, osteoporotic and metastatic-induced fractures are a growing field of interest.
