Abstract

The present article is aimed to highlight issues happening when using multiple Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OAM) procedures for Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) Transport Profile (MPLS-TP). We start by giving a quick review of what are MPLS-TP OAMs. Then we demonstrate how lack of interoperability of OAM solution is a real problem for operators. And finally, we suggest developing an OAM Discovery Mechanism (ODM) which can be adopted in order to help carriers to deal with mixed OAM environment.
