Abstract

This study builds upon the data acquired in a fieldwork made in Ankara’s Beypazari County between the months of April and May 2012. The point of departure of the study is the locomotive role of women, who produce and sell traditional hand labor products for commercial purposes, in the revival of cultural tourism in Beypazari county and, therefore, in the publicity of the county in general. The fieldwork was shaped by face-to-face interviews with women who produce and sell intergenerationally transmitted homemade food, jewelery and hand loomed products and by observations, made in Beypazari County center which is a lively touristic place where traditional hand labor products are being sold to tourists. The study seeks to present an evaluation from the perspective of women who are the producers of items that could be described as cultural heritage.
