Abstract
For decades electric mobility is discussed as a solution for future mobility. But over the years the technology could only be enforced by rail. On the road combustion engines were more powerful, cheaper and offered a higher flexibility. But in terms of an increasing world population, further worldwide urbanization and economic growth as well as climate change on the whole it is common sense that in a few decades the oil era comes to an end. Combustion engines, based on the use of fossil fuels can no longer satisfy all the future mobility needs. Electric mobility as a solution approach becomes a new recovery. This chapter introduces electric mobility issues and provides an overview of the contributions of this book.
