Abstract
Lacking more accurate terms, we will use several simplistic definitions to describe the acquired benign melanocytic neoplasms, which are by far, the most common nevi encountered in routine pathological practice: lentigo simplex, junctional nevus, compound nevus, and intradermal nevus. These lesions can be thought of as progressive stages of a melanocytic neoplasm’s natural evolution.
