Abstract
Cutaneous infl ammatory processes can be coincidental with melanocytic nevi. The dermatoses that repeatedly affect and alter melanocytic nevi are spongiotic dermatitis (e.g., allergic contact dermatitis), lichen sclerosus et atrophicus, psoriasis, pityriasis rosea, and erythema multiforme. Erythema multiforme (and similar entities) and epidermolysis bullosa also seem able to induce the appearance of new nevi.
