Zusammenfassung

Vitamine sind lebensnotwendige organische Verbindungen, die unter normalen Bedingungen in ausreichenden Mengen in der Nahrung für Erwachsene enthalten sind. Eine zusätzliche Gabe von Vitaminen ist nur bei ungenügender Zufuhr (z. B. Reduktionskost, Vegetarier), erhöhtem Bedarf (z. B. Säuglinge, Schwangere, Dialysepatienten) oder bei Resorptionsstörungen (z. B. perniziöse Anämie) indiziert (Übersicht bei Pietrzik et al. 2008).
