Abstract
By means of punch riveting and clinching, local punctiform joints can be made between two and even multiple thin-walled components. The processes differ from traditional riveting inasmuch as neither require the premiering of the parts to be joined, which is advantageous in terms of both cost and time. Both processes are described in DIN 8593-5 [DIN03m] as local forming methods by means of which sheets, pipe parts and profile parts are joined with and without auxiliary elements.
