Abstract

Electrical machines in the power range between 500 KVA and 2000 MVA are used in combination with power electronics in several industry segments. They can be split in the following main areas: Energy, steel and metal, paper, oil and gas, chemical, mining, food and transport. The individual manufacturing processes cause special speed and performance requirements for the drives. A wide variety of converter-machine solutions is needed to cope with these requirements.
