Abstract

The system life cycle is an arrangement of phases, each containing tasks, covering the total life of a system from initial concept through to decommissioning and disposal (see Figure 156 in Chapter 36).

The life cycle provides a structure for planning, managing, controlling and monitoring all aspects of a system, including RAMS, as the system progresses through the phases, in order to deliver the right product at the right price within the agreed timetable.
