Abstract

Because of an increasing number of patients who undergo MRI, MRCP, and MDCT examinations, it is more frequently encountered the congenital anomalies and anatomic variants of the pancreas at radiologic evaluation. Moreover, recent technical advances of the radiologic imaging modalities make more recognizable these congenital anomaly and anatomic variants of the pancreas. Usually, congenital anomaly and anatomic variants of the pancreas may go undetected until adulthood and then detected incidentally in the patients without referable symptoms of the pancreas. There are various kinds of congenital anomalies and anatomic variants of the pancreas including pancreatic duct variants, pancreatic divisum, annular pancreas, ectopic pancreas, fatty change of the pancreas, and pancreatic cyst. In this chapter, these disease entities are presented with their characteristic radiologic features on CT, MRI, MRCP, and ERCP and differential clues from acquired disease in adults.
