Abstract

In this chapter, various lesions not classified as neoplastic lesions nor as chronic inflammatory lesions of the colo-rectum are included in the miscellaneous territory. Endoscopic and histologic findings are presented as needed. These lesions may be related with specific clinical situations such as systemic diseases and infiltrative diseases or may be presented as focal involvement with acute inflammation or subepithelial lesions. Some of these lesions are not common and are hard to find in routine colonoscopy practice. The contents of this chapter include the following lesions: melanosis coli, colonic amyloidosis, colonic involvement in graft-versus-host disease, colonic involvement of endometriosis, acute appendicitis, and colonic subepithelial lesions such as neuroendocrine tumor, stromal tumor, pneumatosis intestinalis, and appendiceal mucocele.
