Abstract

This paper outlines the purpose and significance of the close exploration to the moon using lunar rover, proposes a new calculation model for the coverage boundary of lunar rover on the lunar surface, and introduces the basic idea, the core algorithm of the model, the establishment and conversion of the related coordinate systems. The model considers the elevation of the lunar surface and the attitude changes of sensor. The coverage boundary can be determined by combining direct and reverse algorithms. According to rover coverage, the characteristics of lunar soil and rocks and other environmental information in the detection area can be determined, and a reference for the rover route planning can be provided.
