The Effect of the Activity-Centered Sex Education Program on Higher Grade Elementary School Children’s Sexual Consciousness

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to clarify the effect of activity-centered sex education programs on higher grade elementary school children’s sexual recognition. 14 fifth year students in a Youth Cultural center were selected as the experimental group and 14 fifth year students in the center were selected as the compare group. The program was carried out for ten sessions by 60 minutes per session. The sexual consciousness of the experimental group has significant difference compared to the compare group. In addition, the sub categories of sexual consciousness of the experimental group have statistical differences compared to the compare group. The results indicates that the program was helpful for children to form the desirable sexual values and grow as the children who can do responsible for sexual behavior by providing cognitive and emotional conditions as well as to recognize their changes and control their sexual emotions and patterns of behavior.
