Abstract
LBS (Location Based Service) is a service which is provided to mobile users according to their location and the support of GIS (Geographic Information System). LBS can get the users’ location though the wireless communication network (i.e. GSM, CDMA) of Mobile telecommunications operators or external positioning (i.e. GPS). As the development of travelling, people are urgent to have LBS apps to help them to be familiar to a new place. And Android platform is free and open to provide interrelated functions. This paper summary the concepts of LBS including the component and characteristics. In this paper also introduces Android, including the architecture and component models of Android. At last the paper illustrates the application of LBS based on android.
