Zusammenfassung

Die Humangenetik ist ein interdisziplinäres Fach mit zunehmender Bedeutung in den meisten Bereichen der Medizin. Sie analysiert die genetische Information auf Ebene der Nukleinsäuren (DNA, RNA), der Chromosomen, der Genprodukte und der phänotypischen Merkmale mit dem Ziel, durch ein besseres Verständnis der Ursachen genetisch bedingter Krankheiten Grundlagen und Möglichkeiten für genauere Prognosen, neue Therapieansätze und zuverlässige genetische Beratungen zu schaffen.
