Die graphische Informationsverarbeitung bezeichnet zusammenfassend sämtliche graphische, d.h. nicht alphanumerische Darstellungen von Informationen mit Hilfe eines Computers und spezieller graphikfähiger Ein- und Ausgabegeräte. Der Begriff Graphische Darstellung von Informationen kennzeichnet dabei sehr umfassend sowohl die Erfassung als auch die Präsentation.
