A Real-Time and Reliable Transmission Scheme in Wireless Sensor Networks for Sandstorm Monitoring

Abstract

Sandstorm is a ubiquitous disastrous weather phenomenon. Many domestic and foreign scholars have paid great attention to forecasting and preventing sandstorm. In this paper, we presented a hierarchical and clustering network topology. In order to meet the complex communication medium in sand environment conditions, we adopted the method of node self-regulating it’s power to ensure reliable communication. We analyzed and calculated the overall reliability of the network, finding that the cluster head node is the key factor to dominate the overall reliability. Ensuring the cluster head node can reliably transfer data to the base station, we proposed a real-time and reliable communication scheme. Compared to other routing algorithms, the communication mechanism has the ability to adapt to extreme environments and ensures real-time data transmission and a higher reliability of the entire network in the sandstorm environment.
