Abstract

Excessive traffic noise is a major environmental complaint in residential areas. This paper investigates an SOA based loosely-coupled platform for urban traffic strategic noise mapping. Service-Oriented Computing Environment (SORCER) is employed to build the highly flexible distributed platform. After that, the platform architecture and the hierarchical services structure of this noise mapping system are presented. For platform functions implementation, the task scheduler service, prediction service and noise propagation calculation service are introduced in detail. At last, a real traffic noise mapping project is introduced to demonstrate the mechanism and the system. This platform can facilitate flexible generation process of noise mapping with ease of distributed services invoking, reduced computing cost, and improved resolution quality.
