Abstract
The first contribution of this book on defining a semantic service model (SM) is to be presented in this chapter, which aims to support discovery and selection of semantic web services. Throughout the chapter, the questions why a service model is needed, how it looks alike, how services are discovered based on such an SM and how it can be implemented will be answered.
