Abstract

Tool wear is a consequence of mechanic, thermal and chemical loads. These loads can be reduced by feeding suitable cooling lubricating fluids. This may reduce tool wear. In addition, the heat removal from the chip formation zone can influence the surface integrity of the workpiece beneficially. The force and power requirement for the cutting process can be reduced and increase surface quality achieved by reducing friction and adhesion between tool and workpiece.
