Abstract

The information of network topologies is essential for purposes such as routing, controlling, load redistributing, network monitoring, etc. Therefore, determining network topology is very necessary, but not easy. The complexity may due to the fact that the network topology may be frequently changed due several reasons. Distributed recursive wave allows developing a method for determining network topology without global information. It has an advantage that it is not affected by the changes of network topology. In this paper, an algorithm for network topology determination using distributed recursive wave is presented according to two communication models: non-simultaneous and simultaneous. This algorithm was implemented and successfully tested on a Linux-based simulation environment using shell-script.
