Abstract
In early August 1967 my wife and I landed in Toronto after a long, non-direct flight from Israel. It was a few months after I had received my M.Sc. degree and I had been looking for a place to continue my studies toward a Ph.D. degree. I had offers from UCLA, MIT and the University of Toronto, Institute of Aerospace Studies (UTIAS). I chose the last option since I preferred to be in a small research group and not one in a very large unit. Toronto was a completely unknown world for us; we knew no-one there and we were never before on the American continent.
