Abstract

The formation of EPS, SMP, and internal storage products (X STO) in aerobic granular sludge was investigated using experimental and modeling approaches. An expanded unified model describing the production and the consumption of EPS, SMP, and X STO was formulated after integrating the electron flows from the external substrate to EPS, SMP, and X STO.
