Abstract
One of the major observations over time in the evolution of IT is the fact that major innovations have been driven by the idea of lowering Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Along many technology changes, three pillars of innovation have always included Automation, Standardization, and Consolidation.
Cloud Computing – both, Private as well as Public Clouds – introduce new technical and operational concepts. This chapter explains how these solutions differ from traditional IT infrastructures and describe how these concepts improve service quality and lower the cost of IT.
