Abstract
This study focused on desertification in the middle of lower-reaches of Tarim River (Daxihaizi Reservoir to Argan). The methods to detect desertification were developed. The spatial and temporal changes of desertification and some natural drives are analyzed quantitatively using the RS&GIS technology. The objectives are to provide useful methodology for desertification detection using remote sensing, and give scientific bases for decision-making processes in combating desertification and restoring degraded ecosystem.
