Abstract
Activism is a growing force in changing society and animal activism is no exception. People like Henry Spira were influenced by earlier writings on animal rights and welfare, in particularly Singer's, and took up the cause. This chapter considers the cause of animal activism, as described in a variety of texts, and whether there are useful messages for eliciting change in future.
