Abstract
A function is a controlled specific activity of a certain biological system, aiming to maintain and preserve the organism it forms a part of. For example, the heart is a complicated ordered system of interacting cells with various cellular differentiations. Its main function is periodic regular contraction and relaxation to ensure uninterrupted circulation of the blood in a multicellular organism.
