Zusammenfassung

Die Bewertung von Eizellen und Embryonen spielt in der Praxis eine wichtige Rolle im Hinblick auf die Abschätzung des Entwicklungspotenzials einer Zelle in vitro und in vivo. Der klinisch tätige Embryologe steht im Spannungsfeld zwischen den Wünschen seiner Patienten, der politischen Gesetzeslage seines Landes und seinen eigenen ethischen Prinzipien. Die Problematik der Mehrlingsschwangerschaft und deren Vermeidung durch z. B. den »single embryo transfer« sowie optimierte Implantations- und Schwangerschaftsraten sind Ausgangspunkt der Überlegungen einer Bewertung von Eizellen und Embryonen.
