Abstract

Two chaotic systems never show the same oscillations when they are isolated. However, they exhibit the same synchronous output under certain coupling conditions. The phenomenon is not self-evident, since chaos is sensitive to an initial condition and its future is unpredictable. Chaos synchronization is not only interesting in fundamental physics but also important in practical applications to optical secure communications. In this chapter, we describe various systems for chaos synchronization in semiconductor lasers and study the performance of them.
