Zusammenfassung

Die fetale Chirurgie ist eine innovative, teilweise noch experimentelle Therapie, die für angeborene Fehlbildungen mit hoher pränataler oder unmittelbar postnataler Mortalität, bzw. für Malformationen mit schweren Mehrfachbehinderungen entwickelt wurde. Mit der intrauterinen Intervention sollen reversible Organschäden behoben und irreversible zum frühestmöglichen Zeitpunkt gestoppt werden. Dieses Kapitel zeigt auf, welche Fehlbildungen vorgeburtlich behandelt werden können, was die Resultate sind, und versucht, den Stellenwert der fetalen Chirurgie (inklusive fetal-endoskopischer Interventionen) als jüngster Subdisziplin der Kinderchirurgie im Kontext der gängigen Therapieoptionen aufzuzeigen.
