Chapter 3 starts with the protocol layer aspects of relay categorization, followed by the band operations of backhaul and access links. The major discussions are for type 1 relay (Layer 3 relay) and type 2 relay (cooperative relay), with their high level technology descriptions and the system performance evaluations.
