Lane Accurate Position Sensing of Vehicles for Cooperative Driver Assistance Systems
Since some years university and industry research in automotive systems have become strongly focused on cooperative driver assistance systems (Vehicle to X - V2X communication, consisting of Vehicle to Vehicle - V2V and to Infrastructure - V2I). Since the public funded project sim TD  and the announcements of car manufacturers during the IAA 2011 in Frankfurt / Main it is obvious that such systems will strongly penetrate the automotive market within the next decade . However, such systems with the aim to improve save driving have three basic challenges: First, they must secure a save and stable communication between the desired information providers, second, each partner needs to know his precise position with a time stamp on a global scale and third the provided information needs to be absolutely reliable.
