Zusammenfassung
Die Einführung der Amniozentese Ende der 1960er Jahre war die Voraussetzung für eine routinemäßige Beurteilung des fetalen Chromosomensatzes. Die Hauptindikation für den Einsatz pränataldiagnostischer Verfahren war über mehr als 20 Jahre der Ausschluss von numerischen Chromosomenaberrationen bei einem erhöhten Alter der Schwangeren. Seitdem sind durch die rasche Entwicklung in der Ultraschalldiagnostik und den biochemischen Screeningverfahren sowie der Weiterentwicklung zytogenetischer und molekulargenetischer Untersuchungsmethoden zahlreiche Indikationen hinzugekommen.
